ABOUT US

The Roscallie 'Human' Team:

Oscar Crossen is the driving force behind the Roscallie flock, registered in his name. Despite juggling school and sporting commitments, Oscar remains hands-on with all aspects of the livestock year. While he enjoys every part of the process, he admits his favourite times are lambing season and showing. Having entered his first Young Handler class at just six years old, Oscar has since achieved numerous successes in both young handler and breed classes. Alongside managing the flock, he also runs a traditional breed chicken business, selling eggs directly from the farm gate and supplying local customers. Currently studying A-levels in Chemistry, Economics and Business, Oscar is planning to continue his education in the land-based industries, hoping to combine his passion for farming with a future in land management.

Ginnie Crossen (nee Bealby) raised on her family’s arable farm in Lincolnshire, Ginnie was immersed in country life from an early age. She pursued her love of livestock by earning a Distinction in the Advanced National Certificate in Agriculture, specialising in Sheep Management, from Kirkley Hall, Northumberland, followed by obtaining a BSc (Hons) in Agri-Food Marketing & Business Studies from Harper Adams University, Shropshire. Her passion for journalism ignited while writing a weekly column for the local newspaper during her student days at Harper Adams. This led her to studying a Postgraduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism, being awarded Young Agricultural Journalist of the Year, and contributing to notable publications such as Farmer’s Weekly, The Field, and the CLA’s magazine. Ginnie’s career has spanned from shepherd of leading pedigree flocks to serving as VP of publishing and marketing for a global media company. Her passion for pedigree livestock is unwavering, and her pursuit of perfection is well-known - often to the frustration of those around her!

Danny Crossen hails from Leeds and despite a later introduction to farming (when meeting Ginnie!), he's a passionate countryside supporter and promoter of rural values. He usually takes a back seat during the week as his time is taken up with his 'other' job supplying 'digital services to professional sports organisations'! However, he's a crucial part of the team and embraces a hands-on approach when time permits.

Heather 'Grannie' Bealby is our biggest supporter and loved watching her grandchildren in the ring together in Young Handlers. Now she can always be spotted ringside cheering on Oscar in breed classes and being a star helping out behind the scenes.

Rosie & Ollie are Oscar's cousins and now at university, but previously were excellent young handlers achieving successes in the ring.
